The “Trophée des Clubs” is returning for its third edition, on 24 and 25 April, in Veyrier, near Geneva, Switzerland. This bonsai exhibition aims to encourage reflection and teamwork on themes of balance and harmony between different trees, styles and species. Taking particular care over the quality of displays, each club will freely select its best trees and prepare them for the event.
The clubs will present their bonsai in a space of some 600 m2: from Switzerland, the Bonsaï Club de Suisse Romande, Bonsaï Club Ticino, Bonsai Arbeitsgruppe Mutschellen, Bonsaï-Freunde Emmental, and (not competing) Bonsaï Club du Léman; from France, Bonsaï No Seishin, Castres Bonsaï Passion, Tenkaï Bonsaï Club and Bonsaï Club du Limousin; and from Monaco, Bonsaï Club de Monaco.
Three eminent bonsai specialists – Frédéric Chenal (France), Jean-Marc Defferrard (Switzerland) and Peter Warren (UK) – will be faced with the difficult task of naming the winning club, which will receive a cheque for €1,000 donated by Esprit Bonsai, partners of the event. The judges will also be presenting talks and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
The organisers, the Bonsaï Club du Léman, wanted to set up an exhibition of top-quality bonsai and ikebana, without boundaries, bringing together European clubs, bonsai professionals, demonstrations and talks.
Ikebana specialists from the Ikenobo and Sogetsu schools will display floral compositions.
